About Me

Hi there! I'm Angela! An MSc gradute who is passionate about cybersecurity, privacy, and HCI.
I graduated with my BSc from Laurier in 2022. From there, I decided I wanted to pursue my education further and continue with an MSc. Now, I'm working towards PhD applications. ❥
Since then, I've been so obsessed with learning about the field of cyber and HCI, specifically, usable security. ⍣

User Privacy in Repair Shops

When devices are brought in for repair, customers are not sure what happens to their devices. In this study, MacBooks, Pixels, and Windows devices were dropped off at various repair shops to see if technicians violated privacy. To determine if these devices had their privacy invaded, we used various logging scripts for the devices. We later analyzed these logs to determine if technicians had committed privacy violations, and if so, then what the reasons behind these violations were.
In this project, we worked with CBC Marketplace for device drop-offs.

Repair Advice and Policy Analysis

When dropping off devices at repair places, do you read the documents that the repair shops make you sign?
In this study, we analyze various repair policies that repair shops provide and how accurate, readable and legally binding they are.
We also look at repair advice that the Internet provides (ex. "How do I prepare my device for repair?") and determine the accuracy of the information that these sites provide.
This was my Msc Thesis.
